Princess Christian of Schleswig-Holstein, third daughter of Queen Victoria, has, at her own request, "been appointed one of the patronesses of the New York School of Applied Design for Women."

According to the Chicago Daily Tribune, this is "probably the first appointment or acceptance of English royalty of connection with any American institution."

Mrs. Dunlop Hopkins, who founded the school, has obtained a "large grant of money from the County Council to establish a similar institution in London." Princess Christian has taken a great interest in this project.
