Otto has tea with Roosevelt

March 8, 1940

Archduke Otto of Austria was the "guest of honor today at the White House at a tea given by the President and Mrs. Roosevelt," the New York Times reports.
Otto was accompanied by his brother, Archduke Felix. There were no other guests. Earlier today, the two brothers received a "rising greeting from the Senate "where they went to observe deliberations from the members' private gallery." Senator Barkely called attention to the archdukes' preseence, and suggested that "as a courtesy we rise and greet them." The Senators stood for about a minute, and Otto and Felix "bowed in acknowledgment."
